about

Joined by David Hodgson, Carter Brodkorb, Evan Gratham, and Jacob Slous, this album features four brand new compositions by Nick Adema. This five piece band explores Nick’s original compositions, which pushes the boundaries of straight-ahead, contemporary jazz. Being some of the leading voices on the Canadian jazz scene, these musicians create a dynamic interplay that displays a broad spectrum of musical creativity, and proficiency.

Jazz Trombonist/Composer Nicholas Adema is currently an upcoming musical voice on the Canadian Jazz Scene. He currently studies Jazz Performance in his second year at the University of Toronto, under the guidance of Terry Promane, William Carn, Dave Young, John Macleod, Kelly Jefferson, Jim Lewis, Andrew Downing, Gordon Foote, and others. Due to his musical and technical jazz proficiency, Nick currently holds the Albert & Wilhelmine Francis Renewable Scholarship (UofT Faculty scholarship). He also holds the lead trombone chair in the University of Toronto Jazz Orchestra, under the direction of Gordon Foote, which is the flagship ”A” big band.
